Wary Meyers

Just take a look at these fantastic interiors by Wary Meyers! Bohemian modern is what I would call their style. What I really like is the uniqueness of each design and their ability to mix and match things and colours you would not even dream of putting together. Most of the interiors they do start off virtually empty with the designers supplying everything from light bulbs to kitchy paintings and objects that look like they have been salvaged from the dumpster or bought with a helfty price at an antiques market.

Le Jardin

I usually like to kick-start off my day with something right, something inspirational, to get me going. And when I feel a little down during the day, I just look or think of it to remind me of what I love and the beauty out there in this world created by Him that is larger than myself.

Today, I have chosen these beautiful pics (below) from Le Jardin's blog entitled "Lace at Eden". Just lurve the textures and composition of these images.

Her "Study of Local Crops" collage (below) is just as beautiful.

These are some pictures of her room in London. So eclectic!

5.5 Designers

Am really excited by the innovative designs by French design firm 5.5 Designers. Really like the way they have questioned and re-thinked the designs behind ordinary objects such as chairs, teacups and lamps. Very witty. These guys are definitely on my To-Watch list.

Sketches of Gehry

Just watched the "Sketches of Gehry" with a few friends today. Although I can't say I am a total Gehry architecture fan, I really love his freehand sketches and enjoyed the glimpse into his design process in the documentary. Gehry's honest confession to close friend and director Sydney Pollack at the start of the documentary that "I'm always scared that I'm not going to know what to do," also made him very real.

Also found the following quote from Gehry in the documenatary very inspiring.

"Everything has been done before in some way or another, only thing that changes is technology. What bugs me is the goddamn rules that my profession has that what fits and what doesn't. There is a certain threatening aspect to taking a leap, but once you try that, once you say "I have a right"-- you can't stop." - Frank Gehry

Thank you Rita for visiting and for giving me the thumbs up for my site! Rita is currently working on her website. I will post the link on my blog when it is up.

The Smallest, Coolest Apartments

I love lofts. I like the fact that while the rooms on the upper floor are more private, they are not totally separated from the lower floors. Also love the high ceilings and the amount of natural light that can enter such a space.

Apartment Therapy recently held an international design competition in search for "The Smallest, Coolest Apartment" in the world under 650 square feet (60 square meters). One of my favourite entries is this loft space called "Victor and Soeun's Romantic Loft". This entry won 3rd place in the competition. I really like their use of white which makes the apartment seem bigger. The provision of storage spaces to hide away elements such as the washer and dryer also helps create a clean and uncluttered look.

A magical outdoor party

I just love the beautiful prints on the products at Cath Kidston. Like this magical gazebo with rose pattern. Perfect for a garden party with wine and good company. Unfortunately, they don't ship these overseas.

Fancy Faire

Was at the Fancy Faire show at Orchard Hotel today. Started in 1986 as a organisation of women crafters and artisans, Fancy Faire is a wide and unique showcase of arts & crafts, apparel, jewellery, paintings and antiques from all over the world by small businesses without retail outlets. Setting up a booth at a show like this is an excellant way to test the market with any small creative business/retail concept or simply to gain exposure.

The current "summer show" ends today. Be sure to check out their next one in October!

Fancy sleeping in a pipe?

Designed by Austrian art college graduate Andreas Strauss, these "hotel rooms" reminds me of the ubiquitous capsule hotels you can find in Japan. Made from large sections of concrete drainage pipes and measuring 2m in diameter, the pipes are roomy enough to accommodate a double bed and storage space. Click here to book a room online the next time you visit Ottensheim, Austria!

Shoot Factory

Amazing pictures from the Shoot Factory, a uk location agency that scouts international locations and posts pictures online for potential photographers to view. If you need an inspiration fix, this is the place to go!

I just love how they used the soft pinks and whites in the pictures below to create visual interest.

I would so like to have a dresser like the ones below.

The quality of light and texture in this image is breathtaking! Love the wrought-iron spiral stairs.

Rita Saardi

Fashion designer, illustrator and stylist, Lebanese-born Rita Saardi's work has an ephemeral quality to it. She feels that, “Fashion is about l’air du temps, as Coco Chanel once said. It’s true, but today it’s more about you’re own world, your own air du temps. If everyone else is using color and you want grey, well then it should be grey. It’s your mood, your air du temps.”

Outofstock

Celebrating childhood, Outofstock's debut collection are a reminder of a time of climbing trees and rolling in fresh snow. Their stools from the "WINTER" and "FOREST" collection are my definite favourites.

[Photos LEFT: Forest Stools. RIGHT: Winter stools]

What they did with the "Story Chair" [pic below] is clever and humorous. (The cage design is supposed to evoke childhood memories of us stroking our pets in their grills!!)
