Anemi Hotel

Located on the Island of Folegandros, Greece, the Anemi Hotel is decorated in a minimalistic contemporary style. What I love about this simple design is the attention to detail and the subtle echoing of the colours and textures from the surrounding natural landscape. Predominently white, the splashes of blue and darker natural colours of the upholsteries, soft furnishings and floor surfaces really pop out of these pictures. I really like the way an oversized picture of a natural landscape is strategically placed to bring the outside into this quiet sanctuary without over-powering it. (via Yatzer)

New Majestic Hotel (Singapore)

If you are tired of cookie cutter hotel rooms that don't inspire, you should pop into the New Majestic Hotel the next time you visit Singapore. Launched in 2006, this boutique hotel has 30 individually designed rooms in a restored 1928 conservated shophouse right in the heart of Chinatown. A quirky collection of different themes, each room has its own name and is individually designed with a mix of vintage, designer furniture and art by local artists. Some of the rooms are also designed by Singapore's most influential talents from cinema, theatre and fashion. Definitely looks and feels more like an art gallery than a hotel. Refreshing and inspiring.

Malacca

Am back from an amazing 5 days in Malacca. It is just impossible to describe in words the sights, sounds and texture of this oldest city in Malaysia. It is like travelling back in time in South East Asia. My favourite spot there has got to be Jonker St, a place well known by antique collectors as one of the best places to hunt and bargain for antiques. Come nightfall, Jonker St closes to traffic and hawkers on pushcarts gather to sell all kinds of delicious street food and local handicrafts.

I just love getting lost in the narrow twisted streets, discovering hidden treasures and taking in the olden day charms of the shophouses inspired by the baba-nyonya culture. I have put together some of my favourite flickr pictures of Malacca. Just click here and be transported back to this historic town you would not want to miss.

Fancy sleeping in a pipe?

Designed by Austrian art college graduate Andreas Strauss, these "hotel rooms" reminds me of the ubiquitous capsule hotels you can find in Japan. Made from large sections of concrete drainage pipes and measuring 2m in diameter, the pipes are roomy enough to accommodate a double bed and storage space. Click here to book a room online the next time you visit Ottensheim, Austria!

Eastern and Oriental Express

I am always on the lookout for unique travel experiences and adventures round the world. Sometimes, I do overlook the fact that we are living in the midst of a traveller's paradise here in this part of the world. The idea of exploring the region in a train intriques me. Check out these amazing tours offered by the Eastern and Oriental Express! They do train rides from Singapore to Bangkok in 3days/2nights in style and comfort. Love the warm lighting and wooden panels in their train cabins!

It seems like I have been making a lot of posts on travel and hotels recently. Perhaps this is a sign?
