Bedtime Stories

I got to know about this project through The Style Files. Entitled "Bedtime Stories", this project is part of a collaboration between The Great Eastern Hotel and fourteen students from the Royal College of Art. Designed by Tiago da Fonseca, Bedtime stories is made up of several sheets containing a traditional bedtime story. Each “page” adds a layer of linen making you warmer (or cooler). Growing Business

How do you make your business card stands out from the crowd? Make it grow! Jamie Wieck breathes new life into business cards with his Growing Business Card. Add a little water and this transforms from a regular business card to a miniature house plant. Who wouldn’t want this little piece of greenery on their desk?

Good on paper

The paper addict in me is back! Check out these beautiful designs by self-taught graphic designer Lisa Wong. Some of my favourites here...just love the beautiful graphics and colour combination of the cards and envelopes she chooses for her stationary.

Lisa also does custom wedding invitations and designs. The wedding collaterals she did for Lisa and Nick's wedding are gorgeous! Must check up her website for more eye candy!

The Ornamented Life

Really pretty creations of ordinary objects like drain catchers and screws by Dutch designer Joana Meroz. Really like her lace plate which comes complete with 3 drainers to make sure your salads and fruits are drip-free! Check out her website for more!

Petite Espaces

It is amazing how creative you can get when you need more space at home but don't have it! Check out how these folks manage to create small and interesting spaces at the "petite espaces" section of the Marie Claire Maison website. Some inspiring and lovely ones extracted below... Most of them are less than 40sqm!

Jill Blissen

Some of the many things I like from Jill Bliss's website. An illustator, crafter, web designer and more, it is no wonder Jill calls herself a "Jill of all trades"! Love the colours and the way she combines fabric, paper, and other found materials in her limited edition handmade pieces and artwork. Extremely inspiring portfolio.

Clare Nicolson

Whimsical cushions made from textiles designed by Scotland-based Clare Nicolson. Clare's textiles are taken from paper collages which she creates using decorative papers and packaging. She draws her inspiration from almost anything; vintage fabrics, an old teapot, a walk in the country, even the birds in her garden...

Wary Meyers

Just take a look at these fantastic interiors by Wary Meyers! Bohemian modern is what I would call their style. What I really like is the uniqueness of each design and their ability to mix and match things and colours you would not even dream of putting together. Most of the interiors they do start off virtually empty with the designers supplying everything from light bulbs to kitchy paintings and objects that look like they have been salvaged from the dumpster or bought with a helfty price at an antiques market.

Le Jardin

I usually like to kick-start off my day with something right, something inspirational, to get me going. And when I feel a little down during the day, I just look or think of it to remind me of what I love and the beauty out there in this world created by Him that is larger than myself.

Today, I have chosen these beautiful pics (below) from Le Jardin's blog entitled "Lace at Eden". Just lurve the textures and composition of these images.

Her "Study of Local Crops" collage (below) is just as beautiful.

These are some pictures of her room in London. So eclectic!

5.5 Designers

Am really excited by the innovative designs by French design firm 5.5 Designers. Really like the way they have questioned and re-thinked the designs behind ordinary objects such as chairs, teacups and lamps. Very witty. These guys are definitely on my To-Watch list.

Sketches of Gehry

Just watched the "Sketches of Gehry" with a few friends today. Although I can't say I am a total Gehry architecture fan, I really love his freehand sketches and enjoyed the glimpse into his design process in the documentary. Gehry's honest confession to close friend and director Sydney Pollack at the start of the documentary that "I'm always scared that I'm not going to know what to do," also made him very real.

Also found the following quote from Gehry in the documenatary very inspiring.

"Everything has been done before in some way or another, only thing that changes is technology. What bugs me is the goddamn rules that my profession has that what fits and what doesn't. There is a certain threatening aspect to taking a leap, but once you try that, once you say "I have a right"-- you can't stop." - Frank Gehry

The Smallest, Coolest Apartments

I love lofts. I like the fact that while the rooms on the upper floor are more private, they are not totally separated from the lower floors. Also love the high ceilings and the amount of natural light that can enter such a space.

Apartment Therapy recently held an international design competition in search for "The Smallest, Coolest Apartment" in the world under 650 square feet (60 square meters). One of my favourite entries is this loft space called "Victor and Soeun's Romantic Loft". This entry won 3rd place in the competition. I really like their use of white which makes the apartment seem bigger. The provision of storage spaces to hide away elements such as the washer and dryer also helps create a clean and uncluttered look.
