Wedding Photographers Series - The Pond

I will end my favourite wedding photographers series for now by bringing you the work of Tan Ngiap Heng. Heng started taking photographs as a tourist. Calling himself "a people photographer", he loves shooting people's faces and their bodies. I love the raw textured quality of his simple black and white pictures and the fact that he manages to capture the mood of the wedding day though people. Trained as a dancer himself, Heng is currently the resident photographer of the Singapore Dance Theatre.

Below: Heng's work for the Singapore Dance Theatre. Do check out more of his current work on his website, flickr page and photoblog.

Upbeat Blues

More upbeat blues this time from House & Garden (July 07). This Florida beach house, designed by New York-based design gurus William Diamond and Anthony Baratta, takes it que from the water that surrounds it and the climate. The bold blues hues, with dashes of yellow, red and green, really beef up the naturally lit spaces. I also love the simple pairing of white with turqoise in some of the rooms to gives it a crisp and clean feel.

2jane

Love these pink vinyl dollies and tablecloth from 2jane.

Blue inspirations

Blue has always been one of my favourite colours as it reminds me of being on holiday. A cool and calming color, I find it great for decorating bedrooms and bathrooms. I love the clean and simple combination of royal blue and white, commonly seen in classic blue/white china wares. The warm and sunny combination of blue and yellow also never fails to put a smile on my face. Here are some wonderful design inspirations for using blue in your home from House Beautiful.

Zeitraum

Beautiful hardwood furniture made of wood by German brand Zeitraum. While other furniture companies are going after the lastest design trends, this company is just proud to produce quality furniture which are so simple, pure and intrinsicly beautiful that you can see why don't have to.

Poketo

Poketo is a network of artists. First launched in 2003 with their limited edition artist wallets, Poketo is now a growing network of over 100 international artists designing an exclusive line of artist tees and bags, stationery, and homeware. Intended as catalyst for conversation and ideas, the 100% unique pieces of art are also used as platforms to promote the artists themselves (the bio and contact info of the artist are packaged together with all poketo products).

This is a great website to go to if you want to learn more about the work of emerging artists round the world. I have selected a few of my favourite artist wallets to feature below. The wallet contains the art work on one side and a transparent vinyl sheet (with button badge) to keep your money and cards on the other side. Folds in half.

Saelee Oh Wallet 1. Saelee lives in Pasadena, CA where she paints and draws for various gallery shows and illustration work and creates handmade, unique gift items for her online boutique, Lemonade Maid.

Jill Bliss Wallet 1. Jill's inspirational work was featured here at laissezfaire in an earlier post. Jill is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York and CCA in San Francisco. Her work reveals a fondness for combining fabric, paper, and other found materials. Click here for her website.

Suzanne Husky Wallet 2. Suzanne is an illustrator and installation artist. Her artwork is often humorous and critical of the human environment. She has exhibited in the U.S., China, Europe, and at renowned galleries including Southern Exposure and Marin Headlands Center For the Arts. Click here to learn more about her work at her website.

Tokyo based artist PCP was also invited by Poketo to design a double plate set. I just love the yarn inspired artwork of these plates. The two plate set comes in a beautiful handscreen box.

Flickr Craft Pool

Via Decor8, I found out about this great flickr craft pool that posts inspiring images mostly from Japanese craft books. I went gaga browsing the 4000+ pics worth of inspiration. A must see if you are into craft, japanese goods (kawaii!), or simply in need of a jot of inspiration for home deco!

Love the natural simplicity and textures of the pics above and the rich colours of these pics below.
