Recycle your wooden crate

I simply love this bike box that ciclismodesign made from an old wine crate. These boxes can be custom made to fit your bike and will be available here soon!
And who would have thought that a simple wooden wine crate could be turned into something as so divine as these pet beds and feeders? Available here (via Poetic Home).

This is lovely, I love wooden crates; I like them even more if they have something written on them!

In many cases however, change is inevitable and the food industry has gradually moved to plastic crates for the movement and storage of a range of produce. One-way packaging does have one major advantage – it doesn’t have to be returned, whereas plastic returnable crates only become viable cost-wise if they can be used repeatedly.

Good ideas. I like the look of old wood.

There's now a never ending argument about wood crates vs. plastic ones but this is a classic example of where the beauty of wood shines. Many old wood boxes like this one only disappear over time because people don't want them, not because they wear out. Imagine someone saying "Wow! That's a cool looking plastic box on your bike!" It'll never happen. I could go on forever but nothing beats the look of wood. No two pieces are ever the same.
