My favourite quote from "Under the Tuscan Sun"

It has been a hectic week and my husband and I unwinded by watching "Under the Tuscan Sun" on DVD for the second time together after dinner. We really love this movie and it inspired us to take our honeymoon in Tuscany when we first saw it 5 years ago. Here is my favourite quote from the film:

"Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come."

Martini from "Under the Tuscan Sun"

How I long to own a villa in Tuscany!

It's like in the movie, Field of Dreams, "Build it and they will come" We are looking into a trip to Tuscany this summer. I have been dreaming about it for years.

I love this movie! It has such a beautiful storyline...and your favorite quote has stuck with me as well. I love how Signor Martini gently calmed Frances' fears of never having a family, a wedding, or even people to cook for in her new home...this is one of those great movies you can watch again and again, and somehow, always leaves you smiling...

:) Hope your weekend was lovely~

P.S I adore her villa!

I love that movie. I've always wanted to go to Italy and watching that movie makes it feel like a mini escape. I love the people that she meets and the way that they inspire her to get on with her life. Good, Good movie.

If you have not had a chance to read the book, which has the same title, I really recommend it. I love the book even more than the movie. They are very different but the wonderful feeling of Tuscany and the magic of making a big life choice are all in the book too. And a lot of Italian cooking.

Wow...I am so glad that everyone seems to love this movie as much as I do. I should get the book, and yes, hold on to the dream of owning a villa in Tuscany some day! xoxo

I've recently discovered "Under the Tuscan Sun" and must have watched at least 3 times already. That quote is definitely one of the best in the movie especially in context to the way Frances is feeling at the time.
